Mrs. Cathy passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at her home in Boaz surrounded by her family and close friends after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mrs. Fincher was born August 4, 1951, in Huntsville to Melvin Uri Lam and Ruby Lenora Cox Lam and attended school and graduated from Huntsville High School. She then graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Animal Science and then worked with the Poultry Science Department where she met and married her husband Ed. She is survived by her husband Staley Edward Fincher, Jr., son Jacob Edward Fincher, and daughter-in-law Noel. Mrs. Fincher was preceded in death by her infant grandson Dawson Silas Fincher and parents Uri and Ruby Lam of Huntsville.
Cathy worked in the Poultry Industry during her career assisting in research at Auburn University Poultry Science Department and at the Boaz and Auburn State Veterinarian Diagnostic Labs as a Laboratory Technician. She loved spending time with her family and friends; even though her health was declining, she never complained or let her pain interfere. Her pastimes were watching old movies and caring for her flowers.
A special thanks to Dr. Rachel Kruspe, Dr. Emily Sheffield, the Encompass Health & Rehab team, and Brenda and Hailey of Shepherd’s Cove Hospice for all the kindness and caring they showed Cathy during her journey.
