Voncille Gilbert Shannon

Voncille “Bonnie” Gilbert Shannon was called home to her Lord & Savior on October 13, 2025, at the age of 93 at her home in Boaz, Alabama, after a long illness of Lewy Body Dementia.

She was born and raised in the Mountain Community in Clay County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Perry Lee & Nellie Jane Waldrop Gilbert. Bonnie attended Mountain & Ashland Schools and graduated from Clay County High School.

Bonnie was a long-time member of Berney Points Baptist Church, then latter attended Green Valley Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Boaz.

Funeral Service will be Eleven o’clock am Friday, October 17, 2025, at McRae Chapel with Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Interment to follow in Bethany Cemetery in Wadley, Alabama. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 am until time of the service.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her Parents. The father of their three children: James Dewey Shannon. Sisters: Senior Griffin, Shirley Caldwell. Step-Brother: Charles Gilbert.

Mrs. Shannon is survived by her Son & Daughter-in-Law: Jimmy & Betty Shannon of Birmingham. Daughters & Sons-in-Law: Sharon & Billy Ainsworth of Guntersville, Susan & Laine Spruiell of Birmingham. She was a beloved Grandmother to Chris & Nicole Spruiell, Will & Kendall Ainsworth, Shannon & Clint Johnston, Blake & Monica Spruiell, Natalie Shannon, Austin & Ann Ever Ainsworth, Anna & Chris Groom, Robby & Caroline Spruiell. She is also survived by 20 Great-Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Spruiell, Will Ainsworth, Blake Spruiell, Austin Ainsworth, Robby Spruiell, Clint Johnston, Chris Groom.

The family is grateful for all the support and prayers of family, friends and caregivers of Aveanna Hospice, Connie Snead, Crystal Tims, Pat Worthy & Jackie Gilbreath.
