Sandra Jean Territo, 62, of Boaz, AL, went home to rest with her personal Lord and Savior on March 18th, 2026.
Sandy was born in Kentucky on February 4th, 1964, to Nellie and Gene as their third child. Sandy had her big brother Greg, and big sister Carolyn to look up to and to love. And they certainly loved her. Sandy’s childhood was full of fun times! She was close with her many cousins, and they share fond memories together.
When Sandy was 7 years old, she welcomed her stepfather, Robert Cloud, and later became a big sister to Bobby and Mary. Later, she also extended the role of sister to Tammy and Brenda.
She spent her childhood participating in cheerleading, scouts, twirling as a majorette, dancing and roller skating. She graduated from Clay County High School.
Once she was old enough, she began working at the local skating rink. There, she met Renus Napier, and later they got married. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Stacy, and son, Robbie. Sandy taught them how to take care of others, to love others, and many profound life lessons, especially during holidays. She always thought of others.
If Sandy was comfortable around you then you saw a side of her that was hilarious, maybe even her “Effie Mae” impersonation. She loved to make you smile! She was mischievous, a prankster, and so quick witted. Aside from her inner and outer beauty, these qualities are what attracted her late husband, Craig Territo, to her. They liked adventure. They took long road trips to Niagara Falls with 4 kids in the car, loved camping with friends, and later they enjoyed rides on his motorcycle together.
Of all the wonderful family and memories mentioned, the reason for her biggest smiles was her grandson, Tyler. Becoming his Mol-Mol completed her. She poured her love and attention into him, and he was her baby.
The last few years of Sandy’s life weren’t the easiest chapters of her story, but boy were they worth it! She was Saved! She spent quite a bit of time the last 3 years with her church family at Sand Valley Assembly of God, she began praying with them and with family at home, sang God’s praises, and grew her relationship with the Lord. Sandy lived with her daughter and son-in-law Patrick. Sandy and Patrick formed a special bond and relationship, and he was a God send to her, Stacy, and Tyler.
We want to thank the special caregivers that gave so much of their time, love and attention: Felicia Bearden, Kenzi Bearden, Stephanie Jacobs, Kim McCormick, Tracy Scroggins, Katina Whitt, and Shannon Whitt. We want to extend our great appreciation to the many caregivers that took care of Sandy like she was their mom, sister, daughter, loved one.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Stacy Ashley (Patrick) Phillips; her son, Robert Paul (Elizabeth) Ashley; grandson, Jonathan Tyler Chavis; brother, Bob Cloud; sisters, Mary (Jason) Gurley, Carolyn (John) Lagutap, Tammy (Michael) Moore; sister-in-law Carol Ashley; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family. She was preceded in death by her husband Craig Scott Territo; mother, Nellie Faye Cloud “Mom-Mom”; her father, Paul Gene Ashley; and siblings Gregory Paul Ashley and Brenda Gayle Ashley.
While reflecting on memories, be reminded of the promises we have, and the victory Sandy now has. She has won! What a day of rejoicing!
This isn’t to say that with the passing of a loved one or friend, that we will not feel sadness and grief, but should stand as a reminder and encourage any who may not have accepted Christ as their personal savior to do so. Revelation 21:4 says, “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
The funeral service will be held on March 22nd, at McRae Funeral Home, Boaz, AL, at 3 pm. Family and friends will be received prior, for visitation, from 1 to 3 pm. She will be laid to rest at Shady Grove Cemetery following services, and her church, Sand Valley Assembly of God, will serve family and friends immediately following the graveside. Pastor Lennie Jo Carroll will be officiating the services, Assistant Pastor Gregg Whitt will lead in song. Pallbearers will be Tyler Chavis, Gavin Scroggins, Brad Scroggins, Clay Jacobs, Garrett Box, and Gregg Whitt.
