Laura Dale Baird

Cloaked in her faith, Laura Dale Baird, 79, of Boaz, AL, passed away on April 27, 2026, unafraid, surrounded by family at home. A woman of great beauty and strength, she was a force of nature, unyielding and unforgettable.

A remembrance celebration will be held at McRae Funeral Home in Boaz, May 9th at 6pm, followed by a brief service at 7pm., with Jerri Manasco officiating.

She valued education over almost anything. To that end, she acquired several degrees including two Master’s degrees, one in English, as well as, one in Learning Disabilities. For over 25 years she stood at the front of the classroom at Boaz High School and changed lives.

Outside the classroom, she enjoyed the outdoors, including camping and the occasional white water canoe trip. She valued the lives of animals, cats most of all.

She is survived by her children, Shane Baird (Tammy) of Boaz, AL, Shayla Baird (Paxton) of Novato, CA, and her grandchildren Joel, Bailey, and Mya. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel, her parents, Andrew Berry (A.B.) and Edith, and her siblings, Joe, Beverly, and Janice.
