James Brown

October 8, 1938 — June 26, 2011

Mr. James Franklin Brown, age 72, of Brown Road, Boaz, Alabama, the Whitesville Community, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at his residence.

Graveside service will be Tuesday June 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in Forrest Home Cemetery with Bro. Richard Pettijohn and Bro. Matt Brooks officiating. McRae Funeral Home of Boaz, Alabama is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Brown was born in Alabama on Oct. 8, 1938 to Roger William & Annie Rowan Brown. The early years of his life were devoted to farming. He was the third generation of Browns to farm the land where he lived and raised his family. He was awarded Outstanding Farm Family of the Year and served at APEA President along with being on the Board of Directors. In 1986 he opened Brown's Kar Mart in Albertville and branched off into 3 locations of Brown's Kar & Pawn. In 1979 he ran for Chairman of the Marshall County Commission and won serving from 1979-1983. He was also the former Chairman of Marshall County 911 and a Lifetime Board Member. Lately he has been very involved with Rick Hagans Harvest Evangelism in Opelika, Alabama where he would volunteer his time and open his home to others when needed. He has lead countless souls to Christ and been a strong leader to his church family serving as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Boaz. James loved his God, his family and his country, and will be sorely missed.

This beloved husband, father and grandfather is survived by his: Loving Wife: Linda Alexander Brown of Boaz, Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Shannon & Rachel Brown and Jon & Tammie Brown all of Boaz, 8 Grandsons & 2 Granddaughters, Sister: Margaret Daniel of Guntersville and numerous Nieces & Nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dean Strickland, Bobby Weathers, Ricky Cornutt, Roger Rowan, Jon William Brown, James Shannon Brown, James Malone, Tommy Alexander, Chris Alexander, Chance Wayne Morrow and Chris McCulley. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Sheriff Scott Walls, Harold Chitwood, the Marshall County 911 Board, Harold Brown, Johnny Hart and the Employees of Brown's Kar & Pawn.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to one of the following: Celebrate Recovery, Life Point Church 700 Motley St., Albertville, AL 35950, or First Baptist Church Boaz, P.O. Box 337, Boaz, AL 35957 or Rick Hagans Harvest Evangelism, P.O.Box 2888, Opelika, Alabama 36803. Visitation: Monday 6p.m. till 8p.m.
