Herman Bittinger

April 2, 1928 — June 26, 2014

Mr. Herman Bittinger passed away after a short battle with cancer, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at his home in Boaz. He was born in Cullman, Alabama on April 4, 1928. Coach B., as he was affectionately known, enjoyed a coaching/teaching career beginning at Center Point School, then Fyffe High School and ending his career at Crossville High School.

After Junior College he played baseball in the New York Giants organization until he was called to serve his country in the U. S. Army.

He enjoyed his retirement years playing golf with his friends. He was a member of Boaz First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maxine Campbell Bittinger of Boaz, Son: David Bittinger of Huntsville, God-grandchildren: LaShonda, JaQuez & JaQuan Kelly, Sister-in-Law: Lillian Dalton of Boaz, Brother-in-Law: Ralph Campbell of Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be Saturday, June 28, 2014 two o'clock p.m. at McRae Chapel with entombment to follow in Mt. View Gardens, Rainsville. Bro. Wayne Tarvin will be officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice of Marshall County, First Baptist Church Boaz Music Ministry or Benevolence Fund or a Charity of Choice.
