Fred Buchanan, Age 91, of Boaz, Alabama died August 18, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Buchanan was born on January, 15, 1928 to D.C. & Burle Ann Buchanan in Elora, Tennessee. He and his wife are long time members of the First Baptist Church of Boaz. He worked as a rehabilitation counselor for the State of Alabama before retirement.

Funeral service will be August 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Dr Aaron Johnson and Bro. Jonathan Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife Bettye Buchanan; daughter & son-in-law Ruth Ellen & Rick Thompson; grandchildren James Rickard & Emily Thompson, Jr., and Andrew & Allison Thompson; and sisters Ila Walls and Margaret Starnes. He is preceded in death by his parents D.C. Buchanan & Burle Ann Buchanan, sister Calla Mae Buchanan Reiker, and nephew Steven Morrow.

Pallbearers will be James Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Joe Reiker, Jeff Wolford, Jake Wolford, Greg Copeland, Miles Copeland, and Parker Smith.

The family would like to thank caregivers Magan Childress, Connie Snead, and Marilynn Thomas. They would also like to thank the special caregivers from Kindred Hospice.
