Eddie Scott

Eddie Dean Scott, age 79, of Boaz, AL passed away peacefully at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice on September 2, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Throughout 58 years of marriage, including his extended illness at home and his hospital stay, his beloved wife Rachel (Nichols) Scott remained faithfully by his side.

Ed was born in Boaz on November 14, 1946, to the late Kyle and Ella (Willingham) Scott. He graduated from Boaz High School in 1965 and attended Snead State Community College and Jacksonville State University. After marrying Rachel, Ed joined her at Sardis Baptist Church and has been an active member since then. Ed tried out several jobs when he was young, before settling into a career as a car salesman, and later manager, at Alexander Ford until 1994, and then Devan Lowe Inc. until his retirement in 2008.

Prior to his health decline, Ed and Rachel loved to travel, particularly on cruises. He also enjoyed researching his and Rachel’s family genealogy and collecting antique pottery. He traveled around the Southeast to pursue both of these hobbies.

In addition to his wife Rachel, Ed is survived by his son Mark Scott, and wife Nicole, of Collierville, TN; his daughter Julie Kwasnica, and husband Tony, of Tallahassee, FL; and five grandchildren who live in five different states: Emma Geideman, and husband Brendan, Kyle Scott, Sarah Scott, Anna Kwasnica, and Marlee Kwasnica. He is also survived by his younger brother Vann Scott, and wife Tracey, of Boaz.

Ed always said he didn’t want a funeral but wanted us to have a party instead. So, everyone is invited to a Celebration of Life in the Sardis Baptist Church fellowship hall on Sunday, September 6 at 2:00 pm, followed by a time to visit with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Sardis Baptist Church or to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
