In Loving Memory of Brenda Ann Whitlock
October 18, 1969 – November 2, 2026
Brenda Ann Whitlock was born on October 18, 1969, to the late James and Helen Nelson Whitlock. Though her time here has come to an end, the love she shared, the memories she created, and the lives she touched will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Brenda was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Those who knew Brenda knew her spicy attitude, her quick, witty comebacks, and her unmistakable personality. She had a way of keeping people on their toes and making sure you never quite knew what she might say next. But perhaps one of the things people will remember most was her favorite greeting to just about everyone: "Hey Honey Honey!" Whether you were family, a friend, or a coworker, you were likely to hear those familiar words. It was simply Brenda being Brenda, and that is something so many will miss.
She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and will carry her memory with them always. Family bonds, shared memories, and moments spent together are treasures that time can never take away. Though saying goodbye is never easy, the love Brenda gave will continue to live on through everyone who was blessed to have her in their lives.
A Legacy of Dedication and Love
Brenda dedicated 31 years of her life to Marshall Medical Centers as a Surgical Technologist, proudly serving the people of Marshall County. Although much of her work took place behind the scenes, preparing for surgeries and ensuring patients received the best possible care, her impact on healthcare throughout the county was anything but behind the scenes.
Her knowledge, experience, and expertise helped shape generations of surgical professionals. She took pride in teaching new circulators, scrub technicians, and even surgeons, passing along the skills and knowledge she had gained throughout her years in the operating room. Her contributions to Surgical Services and the lives of those she worked alongside will never be forgotten.
Brenda's love for her coworkers was evident every day. She was more than a coworker; she was family. That love was especially evident during the Christmas season, when she would put together the most amazing holiday spread, bringing everyone together to share food, laughter, and fellowship. Those traditions and memories will be treasured by the many people who had the privilege of working beside her.
The operating room was more than a workplace for Brenda. It was a place where she dedicated her heart, shared her talents, taught others, and made a difference in countless lives. Her legacy will live on through the people she mentored, the patients she helped care for, and the coworkers who will forever miss her presence.
Family
Brenda is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Debbi Whitlock of Tennessee; her sister and brother-in-law, Lori and David Jaeckel of Boaz; and her sister-in-law, Donna Chaney Whitlock of Boaz.

She also leaves behind many dear friends and coworkers, including her dear friend and coworker, Matt Sims, along with countless others who shared in the memories, laughter, and friendships throughout her life and career.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Whitlock, and her brother, David Whitlock.
Though her family, friends, and coworkers must now face life without her, Brenda's memory will remain woven into the lives of those she leaves behind. She will be remembered through family stories, cherished memories, the lessons she taught, the traditions she created, her quick comebacks, and the love she gave so freely.
