Mrs. Betty Jacobs Smith, age 87, of Gadsden, Alabama died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at her residence.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:30 am at McRae Funeral Chapel with Rickey Young & Bobby Sparks speaking. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 am – 11:30 am at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Alabama on April 6, 1939, to Rev. General & Alma Bearden Jacobs. She was the youngest of six children. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Sardis High School class of 1957. She was the office manager at Liberty National for many years. Later in life she owned and operated Tomorrow’s Heirlooms antique store in Attalla. Mrs. Smith was a Christian and attended church all her life. She was a prayer warrior for her family and affectionately known as Hollywood, Momma, MaMa Betty and GranGran. She was a great cook and loved cooking for her family.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her Husband: Carl Lamar Smith of Gadsden. They would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2026.
Daughters: Beverly & Rickey Young of Gadsden, Sandra & Bobby Sparks of Madison. Granddaughter: Amber & George Clemons of Madison. Great Grandchildren: Samuel & Lyla Clemons. Sisters-in-Law: Carolyn Lee of Boaz, Joyce Smith of Madison. Brother & Sister-in-Law: Glenn & Elosie Smith of Rainsville.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her Parents: Rev. General & Alma Jacobs. Brothers: Leon & Lorene Jacobs, Wilmer Jacobs, killed in action in WWII, Sisters: Margaret & William H. Whitt, Martha & Johnny Mosley, Jeanne & Wayne Cosper. Brothers-in-Law: Rev. Herbert Smith, Richard Lee. Niece: Joyce Daniel. Nephew: Shannon Smith.
